EdTech: Supporting and guiding learners with a VLE
A Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) attempts to replicate in an online space everything learners might want to do and what a tutor might want to share as part of a programme of study. Learners are 'enrolled' to the course area. It contains a library, assignment and announcements areas.
When designed and run well, learning can be more efficient, engaging and fun. For this reason, it is important that teachers practice their craft in good learning design.
If you want to explore VLE basics, complete the module Making VLEs more inspirational first.
Aim
This module will help you to strategically approach supporting and guiding your learners using a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
Objective
After completing this module, you will be able to:
- Recognise that a VLE is more than a repository of subject information, resources and assignments
- Identify opportunities for building generic course and organisation-wide resources and frameworks into a VLE to support learners and learning
- Devise an approach to embedding digital media and artefacts into a VLE to deliver specific advice and guidance for course elements and assignments

Very useful, and with some good general examples.
The VLE can be really useful for students and teachers.
This simplified points to encourage people to view the VLE as more than just a storage tool which is great! Thank you for the additional links and references.
I was already familiar with a lot of the content for this module.
We already have a very engaging and informative VLE for my students that they can access outside of college
Good module , thank you very much.
Food for thought and some goods bits here that I am going to put into practice
Good course

Good
Basic content about what a VLE is and it's main aims. Tending to be replaced these days by Office 365 and Teams or other variations, rather than packages designed specifically for a business or school. Edmodo is a good alternative to the standard set-ups, offering tutor and student storage, communication, homework exchange etc.
Using & keeping ezone updated
Good refresher
Thanks
Ok
Refreshing that I do most of this - News forum for Pestel will be added.
The sorting / matching activity was useful to think about different uses of VLE. Basic principles also. Further resources with link to support for students with learning difficulty and VLEs useful.
Not a lot of new information but a good refresher.
Good ideas for enhancing a VLE in the module - using video on the VLE is not something that is currently done here
I enjoyed learning this module. Easy to understand.
Useful for new practitioners to consider how a VLE can be used
Good links in the resources part.
