EdTech: Recording teaching sessions
A recorded teaching session can provide real opportunities for improving your teaching practice, especially if you share it with colleagues in a quality circle or improvement group where you all watch each other's recordings to review and reflect upon them.
This module looks at some of the practical considerations you need to address for a successful outcome.
This module will help you to reflect on and share your teaching sessions by recording them.

Objective
After completing this module you will:
- Select appropriate digital tools to record teaching sessions for review and reflection
- Identify opportunities and platforms for sharing recorded sessions between colleagues in order to improve professional practice
Digital Teaching Professional Framework
This module covers the EdTech component - A2 : Designing and adapting activities
- Adapt and edit existing digital resources, where permitted.
- Combine and mix existing digital resources or parts of them, where permitted.
- Create new digital educational resources.
- Jointly create with others digital educational resources.
- Consider the specific learning objective, context, teaching approach, and learner group, when adapting or creating digital learning resources.

Recording your lessons is a good thing to try for reflection. However, students may act differently if they are aware there is a video recording.
A good starting point with options for different types of recording. I like the idea of recording a presentation done before the actual lesson. Include lesson plans and notes in the reflective conversation so it is reviewed as a learning experience and not as a dramatic performance.
Again good alternative resources to support you personal development on this topic - even if you are used to working with alternative software platforms . Many Thanks

An interesting idea. The only way we share our teaching in any centre at the moment is verbally and informally.
We also have observations, but this always feels like you are being tested. Sharing by filming with other tutors might be better as they would be sharing with a view to helping each other to improve. That's more supportive.

Some useful resources, and points for consideration, but I don't really see how this will positively impact my practice.

Maybe not the place for this, but a slightly deeper comparison of the different software/platform options would have been good. Recording is probably off-putting to older staff who have been teaching for some while without feeling the 'threat' of others in the classroom, though inspection is starting to make this the new normal.
Information was good bu could not order the statments on a chrome book so could not complete that part of the course.

Unable to move the statements to change the order in the activity.

MCA and GDPR in H+SC
This unit gave some good suggestions for recording my group. I use video and photographs but may attempt something more complicated in the future.

Was a bit sceptical about the online/video call at first, but could actually be a powerful tool for quality circles/'teaching triangles' and the like.
