EdTech: Using e-portfolios to support learners
An e-portfolio is an online repository, belonging to and managed by the owner. It's a personal technology rather than shared, like a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
It contains artefacts added by the owner that are curated, arranged and presented, either in their own right or as evidence supporting attainment statements that showcase the owner's competencies and accomplishments.
E-portfolios allow the reordering of content to support different presentations of the owner's abilities depending on the need.
Aim

Objective
After completing this module you will be able to:
- Build the use of e-portfolios into your learning and assessment practice
- Guide learners' understanding of the different forms of evidence in an e-portfolio

Digital Teaching Professional Framework
This module covers the EdTech component - E1a : Assessment and feedback strategies
- Use digital assessment tools to monitor the learning process and obtain information on learners' progress.
- Use digital technologies to enhance formative assessment strategies, e.g. using classroom response systems, quizzes, games.
- Use digital technologies to enhance formative and summative assessment in tests, e.g. through computer-based tests, implementing audio or video (e.g. in language learning), using simulations or subject-specific digital technologies as test environments.
- Use digital technologies to scaffold learners' assignments and their assessment, e.g. through ePortfolios.
- Use a variety of digital and non-digital assessment formats and be aware of their benefits and drawbacks.
- Critically reflect on the appropriateness of digital assessment approaches and adapt strategies accordingly.

Already using e-Portfolios
A visual guide would have helped
Quite brief
Our vocational qualifications already use e-portfolios.
I have worked with E-Portfolios for many years and have used quite a variety. I was interested to see how other portfolio systems work. I have recently investigated some that were not on the list provided as we are looking as a college to move to a different type of portflio. One where we can add our own developed courses to and this unit was quite helpful at looking further int this.
We have used E-portfolios for over 10 years, it is the guidance and expectations at the beginning that make a difference to the learners success of using the e-portfolio
E Portfolios are good for the learners, the IQA, the College. An absolute nightmare for assessors.
I do not wish to provide feedback at this time. Thank you very much indeed.
Good module
The benefits of E portfolios in own and work development have been identified by the use of E Portfolios
Very relevant to how technology, learning and assessment is moving towards.
Good
Inspirational! I will try to create the e-portfolio for my students in the following academic year!
Very interesting with some good ideas about collaboration.
I enjoyed this module
E-portfolios allow learners to document evidence and share ideas with other learners.
Might work for more able students.
Helpful hints on how e-portfolios work, a useful tool to have in a learning environment as it helps learners with their progress throughout the year.
It would be nice to have more practical advice on delivery and resources available.
