EdTech: Creating inclusive content: Practice
This module follows on from the module Creating inclusive content: Principles. It shows how the principles from Creating inclusive content: Principles can be applied to create resources that are good for all users.
Aim
This module shows you how to design and create resources that work for all learners.
Objective
After completing this module you will be able to:
- Create resources that work for all users
- Refresh your existing content in line with the principles of good practice
Digital Teaching Professional Framework
This module covers the EdTech component - F1 : Accessibility
- Provide equitable access to appropriate digital technologies and resources, e.g. ensuring that all learners have access to the digital technologies used.
- Select and use digital strategies which respond to the learner's digital context, e.g. contextual constraints to their technology use (e.g. availability, institutional restrictions - offender learning, work based learning), competences, expectations, attitudes, misconceptions and misuses.
- Use digital technologies and strategies, e.g. assistive technologies, designed for learners' in need of special support (e.g. learners with physical or mental constraints; learners with learning disorders).
- Consider and respond to potential accessibility issues when selecting, modifying or creating digital resources and to provide alternative or compensatory tools or approaches for learners with special needs.
- Use design principles for increasing accessibility for the resources and digital environments used in teaching.
- Continuously monitor and reflect on the suitability of the measures implemented to improve accessibility and adapt strategies accordingly.

This module has really helped me to understand how differentiated methods can support learners with sensory impairment
Adapting my handouts to ensure they are easy to follow with large enough font to read it and questions that encourage discussion and challenge.
Interesting content but not very useful to me due to the setting in which I teach.
Good ideas given in the presentation
This unit made me thank about adding better scaffolding techniques in relation to higher need learners.
This was a very interesting module, very timely for our workplace. thankyou
Illuminating!
Really useful to cater to all types of learners.
Very useful some excellent ideas, advice and guidence.
Really interesting thanks
A good guide to support in creating content that is engaging while accessible to all
Incredibly helpful information. It reminds us all to be reflective in out practice in order to provide the maximum benefit to our students. We must never be complacent.
I really enjoyed the learning. The video was great, and what I really liked was how there was more learning below the video. The assessments ere clearly explained and enabled me to extend my learning and apply to my situation.
Very useful module
Useful.
Good advice overall, but the case study (video) didn't make it clear for exactly how the student-centred collaborative project would have worked in practice. Specific examples would have been helpful.
Great reminder
Interesting ideas.
Full of common sense and food for thought
Insightful and useful information.
Better appreciation of resources , and the need to review and reflect upon the impact i is having for all learners engaging in lessons .
Varied and interesting.
More detail needed with more examples.
This was interesting, although I can't use technology it's good to engage all learners with collaborative work. It is always good to think if your intentions are clear to everyone
A very thought provoking module.
Confusing the way the information is presented - could do with some specific examples
Overall the module is good. Lots of it common sense!
The video runs too fast, I was constantly being forced in listening to the words. I do agree with some of the actions, however, in my own practice I do find that changing the colour of a the background to a pastel colour such as yellow or blue as well as selecting the correct font enables better understanding of the topic. Building of the slides is also critical especially if being delivered on line, as learning may not have large screen, and could be using a mobile phone to access the learning. Having busy slides can reduce engagement.
I thought the information provided in this module was very helpful.
This one was really informative with good ideas. I'm not sure I agree with just the 3 answers on the quiz as I would've looked at fonts as well. However I have picked up some good tips
Gave me more food for thought in making my presentations more accessible and made me think about any additional training I made need to be able to do this
Sometimes people think it makes a presentation 'boring' when it is accessible. Good examples should be shared to show this is not the case.
useful ideas to think about, and apply principles to every learner.
Interesting
another enjoyable module
Informative
Module shows how the principles from Creating inclusive content:
Good content and I got a lot of knowledge and understanding when I finished.
This has made me reflect on my own practice, by making me reflect on whether all of the resources i create are inclusive for all of my students
Useful module to refresh on how to present work inclusively
Simple and memorable
this is a more useful module as it gives clear guidance on better presentation
