EdTech: Personalised learning pathways in practice
This module looks at why it's worth creating and delivering personalised learning pathways and how to make them work in practice.
It follows on from the Personalised learning pathways module.
Aim
This module shows you how to create personalised learning pathways in practice.
Objective
After completing this module, you will be able to:
- Assess the value, opportunities and challenges of personalised learning pathways in your own context
- Create whole or partial pathways to meet individual learner needs
Digital Teaching Professional Framework
This module covers the EdTech component - F2 : Equality and diversity
- Address the special needs of individual learners (e.g. dyslexia, ADHD, overachievers) using digital technologies
- Allow for different learning pathways, levels and speeds when designing, selecting and implementing digital learning activities.
- Devise individual learning plans and use digital technologies to support these.
- Adapt communication strategies to the specific audience and be aware of cultural and generational diversity in digital environments

Taking note of your feedback
We greatly appreciate the time taken to provide us with feedback on each module. We regularly review all the feedback provided and use it to inform the development of new modules. Subject to funds being available and other constraints, we will amend existing modules where feedback shows this is required.Feedback from other members about this module
Personalised learning is good as it will make the student feel really special and want to achieve.
Great way to identify if problems may exist already for learners.
interesting video
This looks at the P method of personalized learning.
Interesting
This module was interesting and thought-provoking.
Great
Like the 6 P's.
I found this interesting because of the challenges posed by the creation, delivery and support of personalised learning.
Good to see recognition of the fact that required evidence for assessment from awarding bodies and institution management can mean that having an effective PLP in place ends up with the lecturer having to provide the same info in three different formats, this takes up more time than is available and so becomes unworkable. Awarding body and Management systems (which we have to use) are not always the most effective form for the student , so staff are between a rock and hard place.
Interesting overview of how to introduce flexibility in delivering a course so all learners regardless of their needs or work schedules can access it.
.
questions are too subjective - what is a benefit for some is a challenge for others
Good
Good example of personalised learning pathways in practice explained.
I have fully enjoyed this module
Good - although felt like more answers possible from the list given
This module made a powerful rationale for the value of flexible personalised learning to student and the organisation and I like the idea of the ‘6 P’s’ model for prompts on how we might achieve this.
I would have liked to see more practical examples of how technology can support - the focus at the moment is on VLE and eportfolios. These are good tools but not universally available to teaching staff. Conversely, shared access to GoogleDrive or Dropbox, use of Skype for ad hoc support etc are all technically easy but come with privacy and other issues that need unpacking. Personalised pathways can also be available within traditional courses, not just as an alternative to them.
