EdTech: Digital literacy - the third essential skill
The government formally recognised digital skills as the third essential skill, together with English and Maths. This module looks at the framework and standards and considers how they might affect both ICT and other teaching staff.
Aim
This module will show you the implications of the UK Essential Digital Skills entitlement for professional practice
Objective
After completing the module, you will be able to:
- Assess the impact of the UK Essential Digital Skills entitlement on your pedagogical practice
- Review relevant learning and activities for opportunities to support and underpin delivery of the entitlement
Digital Teaching Professional Framework
This module covers the EdTech component - C2 : Supporting study skills
- Identify and solve technical problems when operating devices and using digital environments.
- Adjust and customise digital environments to personal needs.
- Identify, evaluate, select and use digital technologies and possible technological responses to solve a given task or problem.
- Use digital technologies in innovative ways to create learning.
- Understand where a learner's digital competence needs to be improved or updated.
- Support others in their digital competence development.
- Seek opportunities for selfdevelopment and to keep up-to-date with digital evolution.

Digital literacy is am ongoing skill.
I recognise the imporatnce of digital skills as neccessary for embedding with adult of low IT skill level and need to include in lesson plan as well.

This has been my favourite so far. Great refresher on some areas and guided me to some extra learning for myself and my team to keep growing and expanding our knowledge. I will encourage everyone to access the ETF training to support in this area
