EdTech: Learner-led activity
Using technology to enable and support learner-led activity is a good way to develop these skills in an engaging way. Allowing learners to direct some of their own learning can drive significant improvement in outcomes and engagement.
This module pairs with and precedes the module Staff and Learner Partnerships.
Aim
The module shows you how to make use of technology to support learner-led activity.
Objective
After completing this module, you will be able to:
- Identify opportunities to develop and support learner-led activity
- Schedule activities and assessment opportunities to incorporate learner-led activity
Digital Teaching Professional Framework
This module covers the EdTech component - B2 : Teaching context: face-to-face
- Use learning environment technologies to support teaching, e.g. electronic whiteboards, mobile devices.
- Structure sessions so that different (practitioner-led and learner-led) digital activities jointly reinforce the learning objective.
- Structure and manage content, collaboration and interaction in a digital environment.
- Consider how practitioner-led digital interventions can best support the learning objective.
- Reflect on the effectiveness and appropriateness of the digital teaching strategies chosen and flexibly adjust methods and strategies.
- Experiment with and develop new formats and teaching methods (e.g. flipped classroom).

Flip grid sounds good.
Good course
I didn't get much from this example as I would be reticent to ask learners to introduce new technologies to use. However, suggestions are always listened to and evaluated
Enjoyed this module- it offered interesting resources and encouraged me to think of how to make the learning self-directed. For my cohort I think this will need to be done in small stages as they need extra support even in tutor-led learning, so independence needs to be carefully cultivated.
Very useful and will use.
ok
I think that developing autonomy and independent thought is an important life skill that all learners must learn, some find it very difficult and others are reticent stepping into what they classify as the unknow. Many students are frightened of the autonomy but allowing the learner to falter, and to go wrong will give them the confidence to get carry on
well writen and easy to follow
Good info
finding the right apps/software etc.
being able to work collabratively outside a physical classroom is interesting to me. i need to look into this more.
Limited value to me as I am not a teacher, but ok as a general introduction. I'd be surprised, though, of teachers were not aware of this.
Good resource
Informative
Very straight forward
time to reflect on my own practice
Good
a good module
This looks pretty awesome, (especially Flipgrid). Will test it out.
Refreshed knowledge on thread learning.
Introduction to flipgrid is great!
Not a bad module but could go further with more examples/
