EdTech: Using technology to improve Peer Assessment
Peer assessment happens when learners find inspiration and insight in the ideas, suggestions, criticisms, contributions and thoughts of other learners, relative to their own contributions. As a result, learners can refine actions, comments and contributions to make their own learning and work demonstrate deeper learning.
Aim
How technology can deepen learning by facilitating high quality peer assessment and reflection.
Objective
After completing this module, you will be able to:
- Adopt suitable technology to support peer assessment by learners
- Appraise the process, learner experience and outcomes
Digital Teaching Professional Framework
This module covers the EdTech component - E1a : Assessment and feedback strategies
- Use digital assessment tools to monitor the learning process and obtain information on learners' progress.
- Use digital technologies to enhance formative assessment strategies, e.g. using classroom response systems, quizzes, games.
- Use digital technologies to enhance formative and summative assessment in tests, e.g. through computer-based tests, implementing audio or video (e.g. in language learning), using simulations or subject-specific digital technologies as test environments.
- Use digital technologies to scaffold learners' assignments and their assessment, e.g. through ePortfolios.
- Use a variety of digital and non-digital assessment formats and be aware of their benefits and drawbacks.
- Critically reflect on the appropriateness of digital assessment approaches and adapt strategies accordingly.

In my opinion, peer assessment is a powerful tool that in my current practice is virtually ignored. I intend to try and change this.
Digital assessment is a good way leaners can build confidence in their work and be reflective on their constructive feedback.
Constructive peer assessment benefits everyone.
Good
Peer feedback is very useful for learners to find inspiration and ideas through suggestions, criticisms and contributions from other learners.
Very good links provided.
I found this unit useful as I like seeing the resources that can be used to support different ways of enabling students to undertake peer assessment to support their knowledge and development.
On delivering the Counselling Skills and Mentoring course there are criteria that need to be demonstrated and during the last year I have used teams to-do record and playback the learners' role play and they have evaluated each other in their peer team to support their partner to develop their skills and to support assessment. The peer group also completes a written assessment and this could be amended and be an online review of skills to support peer assessment.
Good module showing how to use peer assessment digitally
Short and to the point. Provided useful ideas for group engagement.
.
very short but to the point
Informative
Peer assessment and feedback is a valuable tool and i highly agree rules must be set in order it also sets the tone for ownership, collaboration and importantly ready for work.
