EdTech: Simulation
Simulation refers to creating a model of an activity, environment or situation which reproduces the characteristics of real-life events and delivers authentic responses to the learner’s choices and actions. The consequences of error in decision-making, judgment, manual or cognitive skills can be shown in a safe, controlled environment – and repeated with different scenarios to build and reinforce learning.
Aim
How to use simulation.
Objective
After completing this module, you will be able to:
- Identify situations where content using simulation is appropriate
- Locate and use suitable tools or services for simulation, including existing simulated content

VR is really good if your school has the resources and it's linked to a practical subject.
Ok but VR is very expensive and our learners don't have access to the budgets required.
If I were teaching a vocational subject I think I would love to teach it through VR especially that "Simulations are used in a range of vocational training situations where the real task would be too hazardous, expensive, problematic, unpredictable or simply impossible to carry out in practice. "
Fine
Informative.
I am not a fan of role play but do use simulation in most lessons as it works well in a salon environment
Excluded MR which is currently being used throughout healthcare and medical training. AR and VR are not enough alone.
Good !!
Easy to use & learn.
in the the right context this can support the students learning a good alternative to a hands on activity
