EdTech: Teaching and learning with virtual reality
Immersive technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR) make a distinctive contribution to learning and to individual learners that cannot be replicated by any other media currently available to educators. What makes it special for educational content creators is its ability to fully immerse the user in the created world, engaging the senses and producing the feeling of being there in the moment.
Aim
How VR can transform educational possibilities.
Objective
After completing this module, you will be able to:
- Assess the pedagogical contribution of virtual reality to your area of teaching
- Identify strategic opportunities for introducing and developing in your teaching and learning practice
Digital Teaching Professional Framework
This module covers the EdTech component - B1a : Using teaching and learning resources with learners
- Visualise and explain new concepts in a motivating and engaging way using digital technologies e.g. by using animations or videos.
- Use motivating and engaging activities (e.g. games and quizzes) in digital learning environments.
- Put learners' active uses of digital technologies central to the teaching process.
- Allow learners actively to engage with subject matter using digital technologies, e.g. using different senses, manipulating virtual objects, varying the problem set up to enquire into its structure, etc.
- Promote active learning in a given learning context or for a specific learning objective using appropriate digital technologies.
- Reflect on how suitable the different digital technologies used are in increasing learners' active learning, and to adapt strategies and choices accordingly.

Some good resources.
Excellent module and really helpful
Informative
Some very valid points raised within the module.
I would love to explore this topic for teaching English and ESOL, at the moment it seems still slightly futuristic, but it might be closer than we realise.
Interesting unit, thank you -I hope my college invests in such technology.

There are some really good resource links at the end of this module.
An intresting introduction that gives some cobtext on how VR may be used. I think it may feel a little overwhelming to those wgo are not already familiar with VR
Love to get VR going in Brickwork.
